There’s an opportunity for almost everyone who shares our values and vision to volunteer at The Film Society. We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for everyone who volunteers with us. We have volunteers of all ages, from all backgrounds, with a wide variety of skills, and with a broad spectrum of knowledge of the film industry. You don’t need to be a film buff to volunteer; you just need to want to be here!
What you get out of volunteering depends heavily on what motivates you to volunteer, but we can ensure you that Film Society volunteers gain insight into what it takes to run a non-profit film organization, a wider knowledge of film and the film industry, and in many cases, new skillsets that can translate directly into the workplace. Above all, we want every one of our volunteers to have fun and enjoy their experience.
As much as you want! However, some roles, especially those in administrative positions, must be coordinated during weekday hours. These positions may also have a minimum time commitment.
This will depend on what you do. If you don’t have the skills needed for certain positions, where possible, we will help you develop them. Often, enthusiasm and a quick learning ability are the most important skills required. Some other specific positions may require certain skill sets or knowledge.
Year-round opportunities include: Marketing and Outreach – Street Team – Administrative – Offsite Events and Festivals. These positions are outlined in more detail in our volunteer application form.
